This is Coalton, my mentee. For the past few years I have been involved in the Region 2 Artist Mentorship Program, where I get to work with highschool art students from around the area. It is a cool opportunity to work one-on-one with a student. Coalton has great ambition and I am super excited for this chap.
One of the amazing things about being involved in an art mentorship program is the sketching my mentee and I do together. This is one of the best ways to get a handle on how my student constructs and build and image.
One of the exercises we worked on was sketching portraits rather quickly. Here is my take on Coalton. I wish I would have drawn all my mentees.
