Paymo Solves Project Management & Time Tracking For Freelancers

By January 14, 2011January 16th, 2011Reviews

If you are a freelancer, you probably have thought about or come to the conclusion that you need some sort of project management and time tracking in your life.  After over a year of trying different services I have landed at Paymo.

Why track your time?

Time tracking for the freelancer is essential for determining the price of your service or product, even if you don’t charge by the hour.  When I first started tracking my time, I realized that I was putting in more time into project than I thought I was.  Thus, I needed to have another look at my pricing structure.  What I realized about pricing structures, is that I always have to be redefining them.

Time tracking also helps the freelancer see where they are spending the majority of their time.  I was appalled to find that I am spending tremendous amount of time in the administration of my business.

I find that too many creative professionals don’t track their time.  If you are not tracking your time, start today!

Why do you need a project manager? Paymo to the rescue.

You need to manage your projects whether or not you think you do.  Keeping a creative and progressive flow to your work day is essential to any creative business. Paymo allows you to track clients, create projects, set milestones, and check off tasks.  Clients love when I give them a brief timeline of the project, as it sets their mind at ease that this project will in fact get done.  One of my favorite features is looking at my week and seeing at once what is due for each project.

  • Track clients
  • Create projects
  • Set milestones
  • check off tasks
  • Two week overview

Paymo for time tracking

I kid you not, I have been searching for time tracking software for a very long time.  I knew, and have used, options like Basecamp and Harvest to track project and I wanted a solution all in one that wasn’t going to cost too much cash.  Along came Paymo.

As I mentioned before you can manage clients, projects, milestones, and tasks.  Time tracking is easy as pie!  Download the desktop time tracking app, select your client, choose the project, and click the task.  The app works like stop watch. Click in and click out.  This is one of my favorite aspects of Paymo, because if its simplicity.  There is even an iPhone app for out of the office meetings.

I’m happy with my choice of Paymo, and I hope that you have a chance to give it a whirl.  This has been a rather short overview and there are even more features like invoicing and reports that are very handy.  I like to keep things simple when it comes to project management and time tracking, Paymo does just that.

      Hey Jakob,
I haven’t tried Cronsync. It looks really cool. Have you had a chance to use it? If so, what are your thought, and do you recommend it?

    Hi Nicholas,

    thanks for your reply!

Well, we have developed the tool and therefore we might not be unbiased 🙂

Initially we were looking for a time tracking tool for our own agency and found out that there are either tools which are easy to use but do not even meet the requirement of a smaller agency. Or the tools were too comprehensive for our needs. So we created our own tool and started to grant access to this tool to our network and business partners. As they were really interested, we made the decision to offer it as a software as a service.

To take the video tour at http://www.cronsync.com is worth it.

    Best
    Jakob
