Since my time at school I have not dabbled much in oil painting. Honestly, I am getting a bit tired of my current technique (watercolor/digital) and I want to give something new a try. Behold the nasty Saruman! Before jumping into a large and detailed piece, I wanted to see if I still had a rudimentary understanding of the oil medium. This is a quick snap shot of the initial underpainting. Not only am I painting in a new medium, but also painting on a new surface, primed hardboard. Stay tuned for another progress shot.
